Challenge

The construction of the ski jumping hills at the Planica Nordic Centre required excellent organisation, precise execution and the ability to adapt to challenging conditions on the construction site. With our knowledge and experience, we made an important contribution to the construction of one of Slovenia’s most significant sporting facilities.

In 2013, extensive construction works began at the Planica Nordic Centre and continued for several years. Kaskader was also involved in the project, with our work representing an important and highly demanding part of the overall construction.

Transport using material ropeways

We were involved in transporting construction materials using material ropeways, which were essential for the construction of the new ski jumping hills – the so-called junior and youth ski jumping hills – as well as for the renovation of the Hugo funicular railway.

At one stage, as many as four material ropeways were operating simultaneously at the construction site, with lifting capacities ranging from 500 to 3,000 kg. The longest ropeway was 700 metres long, while two material ropeways operated continuously throughout the construction period.

Installation works for the new two-seater chairlift

As part of the project, a new two-seater chairlift was constructed to provide easier access for ski jumpers and ski flyers to the top of the inrun. We carried out all installation works at the lower, middle and upper stations, installed the support towers and assembled the continuous haul rope from which the seats are suspended.
